Tax Information on International removals

Planning an international move can be a real nightmare as there is just so much to consider. Tax is one issue that comes up time and time again when the subject of international removals is raised. Here is some brief information on tax if you are planning to have your items moved internationally.

Firstly, you should not be charged tax on your items when you have them moved internationally. This is because these belong to you and are your personal items. However, the rules are slightly different if your personal items are less than 12 months old.

Secondly, you will not have to pay tax on household goods. These are seen as essential items and are not taxable. So you should not have to worry about paying tax on anything like household furniture and so on.

Third, if you are travelling outside of the EU and want to take alcohol with you it can be taxed. Many people are unaware of this as they do not realise that they can be taxed on drinks. If you want to avoid this do not take any alcohol with you on your journey.

Lastly, you should expect to pay tax on the international removals service as this is totally normal. This will be in the form of value added tax and you will be given this price when you get a quote on transporting your items.
